What to Expect
A walkthrough of your appointment
Here is exactly what happens during your first visit — from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. No surprises.
01
Warm Welcome
First 5–10 minutes
You will be greeted by our team and given any new patient paperwork to complete. If you filled out forms online ahead of time, this step is already done. No long wait in a crowded lobby — we try to take you back close to your scheduled time.
02
Digital Records
10–15 minutes
We take digital X-rays and photographs to give Dr. Asbita a complete picture of your teeth, roots, bite, and jaw. Our iTero scanner may also be used to create a 3D model of your teeth. No goopy impressions.
03
Examination by Dr. Asbita
15–20 minutes
Dr. Asbita walks you through his findings and explains your options clearly. If treatment is recommended, he will describe what it involves, how long it typically takes, and why he is recommending one approach over another. If treatment is not needed yet, he will tell you that too.
04
Treatment Discussion

05
Cost & Payment Review
10–15 minutes
Our treatment coordinator will review your cost estimate, explain your payment plan options, and help you understand your insurance benefits if applicable. Everything is transparent — no vague quotes and no pressure to decide on the spot.
06
Questions & Next Steps
As long as you need
Before you leave, we make sure all your questions are answered. If you want to schedule treatment, we can do that now. If you need time to think or talk it over at home, we will follow up at your pace.

What to bring
We built Asbita Orthodontics specifically to be different from the corporate dental model — and that includes how we handle consultations. You will never be pushed into a same-day decision, offered an expiring discount if you sign today, or made to feel uncomfortable about taking your time.

First visit for kids
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first evaluation by age 7. This does not mean treatment starts at 7 — in most cases it does not. It means Dr. Asbita can monitor development and catch any issues while there is still time to address them simply.
First visit as an adult
Adults make up a growing share of orthodontic patients, and for good reason. Whether you are addressing something you never treated, dealing with relapse after prior braces, or simply ready now — Dr. Asbita treats adults routinely and without judgment.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the first visit really free?
Yes. Your consultation is completely free. There is no obligation to start treatment and no pressure to decide anything on the day.
How long will the first visit take?
Plan for about 60 to 90 minutes. This gives Dr. Asbita enough time to do a thorough exam, take any necessary records, walk you through his findings, and answer all your questions without rushing.
Does my child need to come to the first visit?
Yes. Dr. Asbita needs to examine your child directly. Parents and guardians are welcome and encouraged to stay for the full appointment and ask as many questions as they want.
Do I need X-rays before my first visit?
You do not need to bring anything in advance. If X-rays are needed, we can take them at the consultation using our in-office digital imaging. If you have recent dental X-rays, you are welcome to bring them — it can be helpful context.
Will I leave knowing my treatment options and cost?
In most cases, yes. Dr. Asbita will review his findings with you, explain your options, and give you a clear cost summary before you leave. Complex cases occasionally require a follow-up appointment to finalize the plan.
What if I am not ready to start treatment after the consultation?
That is completely fine. Many patients take time to think, compare options, or consult with a spouse or parent before deciding. There is no deadline and no pressure. We are here when you are ready.
Do you see patients who speak Spanish?
Yes. Se habla español. We are proud to serve Spanish-speaking families throughout northwest Houston and will make sure you feel fully comfortable and informed throughout your visit.
