Ages 7 & Up
Orthodontics for Kids in Hockley, TX
Early evaluation to guide healthy growth — before problems become bigger.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that all children receive an orthodontic evaluation by age 7. At this age, Dr. Asbita can identify developing alignment issues, assess jaw growth patterns, and determine whether early intervention would be beneficial.
Not every child needs Phase 1 treatment — and Dr. Asbita will never recommend treatment that isn't necessary. When early intervention is appropriate, it can guide jaw development, create space for incoming permanent teeth, and reduce the complexity of later treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does my child need braces at age 7?
Not necessarily. An evaluation at age 7 helps Dr. Asbita monitor development. Many children are observed and begin comprehensive treatment between ages 11–13.
What is Phase 1 treatment?
Phase 1 is early orthodontic treatment, typically between ages 7–10, designed to guide jaw development before all permanent teeth arrive. It's recommended only when a developing problem would be harder to correct later.
How long does a first evaluation take?
Your child's first visit typically takes about one hour. Dr. Asbita will complete a thorough examination, answer your questions, and explain whether treatment is needed now or if monitoring is the right approach.
